Year 114 Overseas Chinese and Mainland Chinese Students Counseling Intelligence Workshop
The Overseas Chinese and Mainland Chinese Students Advising Division held the "Overseas Chinese and Mainland Chinese Student Counseling Intelligence Workshop" on March 10. The event included an overview of overseas Chinese and mainland Chinese students. It featured invited speakers from the Center for Student Well-Being, the Student Counseling Center, the Student Safety Center, the Career Center, and the Academic Advising Office of the Office of Academic Affairs, who shared practical experiences and introduced relevant resources. This allowed faculty and staff members from departments and administration to exchange knowledge and learn. This year, an interactive format was introduced, with participants divided into eight groups. Through competitions and discussions on practical case studies, participants engaged in dynamic learning. Ultimately, five groups tied for first place, demonstrating a strong familiarity and understanding of the available resources. Senior Specialist Chen Ziyu from the Department of Civil Engineering was invited to share insights for student case counseling. Overseas Chinese and mainland Chinese students primarily face language, financial difficulties, further education, and employment challenges. In response, departments offer bilingual courses, scholarships, work-study opportunities, and teaching assistant positions. Students are also encouraged to take Chinese language courses and shorten their study duration. Additionally, the university aims to enhance students' internship and employment success rates through alumni events and job-matching mechanisms. Thirty-four participants attended the workshop, and the event received an overall satisfaction rating of 4.81 out of 5.
