On Sunday, December 22, National Taiwan University held the "Lunar New Year Gathering" event at noon in the old gymnasium. President Chen Wen-Chang presided over the ceremony, with the Vice President of Academic Affairs, Wang Hung-Jen; Vice President for Student Affairs, Chu Shi-Wei; Vice President for General Affairs, Liao Wen-Cheng; Vice President for International Affairs, Yuan Hsiao-Wei; NTU faculty members, and nearly 700 overseas Chinese, mainland Chinese, and international students in attendance. Distinguished guests included representatives from the Overseas Community Affairs Council, the Mainland Affairs Council, the Overseas Chinese Association HQ, the China Youth Corps, and the National Taiwan University Indonesian Alumni Association. The event began with President Chen leading the guests and faculty members in a Lunar New Year calligraphy session, followed by an ancestor worship ceremony in accordance with ancient rituals, honoring the traditional cultural values of the Chinese nation. The event featured a banquet, a lucky draw, red envelope distribution by teachers, a lion dance, the Myanmar Thadingyut Lighting Dance, the top three performances from the 2024 NTU International and Overseas Students Singing Contest, as well as song and dance performances by the Indonesian and Malaysian student associations. These activities provided an opportunity for overseas and international students from different countries to unite and celebrate together. The lively atmosphere allowed teachers and students to exchange New Year wishes for happiness and prosperity.
